This is the latest, extremely aggressive generation of the Bell Star Motorcycle helmet that started a safety revolution in motorsports,Redesigned with a smaller profile for a more refined fit and tuned specifically for the upright riding position, the Bell Star combines the comfort and riding characteristics of a touring helmet with race-bred aerodynamics and performance. Now with MIPS "What is MIPS?”It stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, which is a leading slip-plane technology inside the helmet and was designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts. Still confused? In an impact, the foam liner dissapates the force. The MIPS system uses special Elastomeric retention straps (think of it as a fancy rubber band) that attach the Head liner or skull cap to the foam liner instead of it being glued or fastened directly onto the foam this allows the inner skull cap to move slightly (millimeters) and to rotate if necessary. In the event of an accident it helps dissapate the impact forces traveling through the helmet to your brain i.e theres less of a sudden stop, it also allows in certain accident's for you head to rotate slightly inside the helmet reducing the chances of a neck or spinal injury. The Bell Star feels small at first, it has a narrow neck roll opening and snug cheek pads to minimise noise and to mitigate movement at high speeds. The interior padding will conform to your unique features by a break in margin up to 20% over time as the foam compresses. The Streetview profile used for the Star Helmets is designed for a more upright, sport or touring position. No matter what or how you ride, one factor remains constant: the need for maximum visibility. Whether racing or going on a simple ride in the mountains, the ability to make safe head-checks and see obstacles clearly is critical.The Panovision viewport in the Star offers riders additional vertical and lateral visibility over the previous Star and more traditional viewports. This allows the rider to see better in a tight or tucked position and make safer lane changes and head-checks. Using prescription glasses or a preferred pair of shades is now possible with eyewear arm pockets woven into the interior liner. A leader in antimicrobial fabric technology, the X-Static liner material is clinically-proven to provide bacteria and odor protection throughout the life of the liner. X-Static fibers are permanently bonded with a layer of 99.9% pure metallic silver. This silver layer is the key to X-Static’s powerful antimicrobial properties, as it creates an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi. Fabrics made with X-Static fibers are flexible, with the natural look and feel of traditional textiles, while offering all the benefits of pure silver.
