Waxed cotton, classic textile panniers with 40 litre capacity they are mounted over the seat with hook and loop straps, plus a unique third under-the-seat strap for extra security. Being roll top panniers, the top closures get rolled down and held by the straps, giving a water-resistant seal, and there is a removable waterproof liner for extra protection against the rain. The bags’ key material is a dry waxed cotton, a modern take on the traditional sail cloth which found its way into the clothing which sailors wore to protect themselves from the salt water and wet weather. Respectful of the material’s heritage, Oxford’s designers have employed traditional methods to assemble the bags. For example, pockets are pleated in order to lie flat when empty, but provide space to expand when full; flag stitches secure all the straps and strapping points to the main structure of the bag; the roll top closure is both traditional and the best way to seal the bags against rain. Inside the bags, however, you will find a very modern removable waterproof liner which uses taped seams to guarantee that the contents remain dry, even when the outer material has been drenched. Similarly, the luggage employs Oxford’s most up-to-date fitting system to ensure that it can be secured to the bike safely, with all necessary fittings supplied.
