Not sure why this didn't upload when i reviewed them in Jul - but here it is:
Awesomesauce boots to look after your plates of meat!
5 out of 5, reviewed Jul 23, 2018
+ Ease of entry/use.
+ Price - if you bought them from anywhere but Australia.
+ Thos little extra's in the box.
- Price - if you bought them from Australia!
For anyone who doesn't like long reads - there's a TDLR at the end!! For anyone that doesn't know what TDLR means - keep reading!
So following on from the TCX blurb:
Now lets see what all that blurb means in the real world, starting off with the fit of the boots.
For me the fit of these boots is great, i tried on a variety of different boots from A*'s Supertech R's 45/46, Sidi Mag1/Vortice Airs 45/46 and found them to be either too tight (big toe/side of foot) or loose (heel) in the 45/6's - the 46 in the TCX for me fitted almost perfectly for my odd shaped feet - there is also a little 'wiggle' room for my (very) big toe!
They are very comfortable on and off the bike. The inner half boot/lining (fixed) make them feel very comfy on. When i first tried them on/wore my own they were ever so slightly tight on the outside of my feet (in my left foot) not enough to give any issues and in the 2 weeks I've owned them that has gone and they now fit perfectly. I do have to wear thin socks but even when heading interstate the other w/e i wore SealSkinz thin socks for a bit of wind/thermal protection.
Ease of entry, getting them fastened and getting them off:
Really easy, pretty straight forward and relatively easy! The inner half bootie is easy to step into (well i call it a bootie - but its part of the air tech breathable, soft touch mesh lining) the pull tie quickly tightens the 'bootie' and it feels comfortable and secure. There is additional padding on the ankles featuring double density foam for extra comfort.
The zip closure is elastic and has a lateral stretch panel for ease of use and to provide a more secure fit.
They're fastened at the top of the boot by an internally enclosed PU band and micro adjustable buckle to ensure a perfect fit around the shin/calf. Which means they can be worn over the top of your leathers or underneath a pair of armoured jeans.
These features make getting in/out of and fastening the boot a breeze.
How secure/protected do your feet/ankles and shin feel wearing them:
Very! Due to the above features my feet feel really secure in the boots, with little or no movement available - there's a bit of wiggle room for my toes and no movement in the heel/foot.
The boots have replaceable magnesium toe, heel and side heel sliders that are apparently abrasion resistant although my lefthand toe slider has some scuffs after a rather spirited ride whilst in Mexico recently!
The boot has a polyurethane shin plate (with iron mesh for additional breathability) and heel counter for protection. It also has a polyurethane external achilles tendon/ankle support/protection brace which together with the sliders/shin plate/heel counters make your feet/ankles and shins feel very protected without the boots feeling too bulky and restrictive. The brace system ensures ease of movement (flex) forwards and backwards whilst moving around on the bike with no movement side to side or any rearward over (hyper) extension.
They're also 'certified CE' to EN13634 regulation - which covers professional motorcycling.
How connected to the bike do you feel in them - And isn't the Michelin Burnout sole just, well, w**ky!?
Very and No! I can feel where my feet are on the pegs at all times through the soles. Some spirited corners coming up, onto the toes/balls of my feet and onto the outer part of the pegs and i know where my feet are and they feel secure on the pegs. The grip of the soles is very good, they have different zones for 'adherence/stability' on the outer part of the sole and 'stability' on the inner part, ensuring that wherever my feet are on the pegs they've got me covered.
The soles also make walking in them comfy too!
Anything else to add:
Yes, a few things! Firstly, these are a summer, vented boot. The outer has a perforated part on the upper of the boot - which really works and mesh up the shin, and a couple of vents at the top, i can feel the airflow over my feet and this should help keep my feet cooler in the warmer months, so far i've worn them up to 20 degrees C and my feet were nice and cool.
Secondly, I wore them on a pretty long interstate ride recently and it was pretty cold - i put on some SealSkinz thin mid length socks and they helped cut the airflow and added some thermal protection to boot (lol) - my feet did get a bit chilly and i did take a break every couple of hours but they weren't that cold that it affected my riding. It probably got below -10 (with windchill) and whilst they certainly weren't as warm as say wearing winter boots - they held up admirably!
Thirdly, they came with a little bag of spare screws and an allen key - which i thought was a pretty good idea, i hadn't seen the same thing in either the A*'s or Sidi boots that i looked at (Supertech R's, Mag 1 and Vortice Airs) the screws even have locktite on them to help stop them vibrating out in the first place.
Fourthly, I've worn these on different duration/speed/temperature rides from a quick cruise round the beaches, interstate and back, 5 hour mixed to full day spirited and they have been up to the job on every occasion.
Fifthly, I have only 1 minor issue and thats that the righthand boot squeaks!! Yep thats the only problem i currently have with them!
Oh and finally, they has a carry bag, yep a carry bag - for i guess - carrying them or something like that or to keep them in at home so the dog cant see them and chew on them - dunno but thats probably why they cost so much, cos you gets a bag with them!!
Speaking of cost - if you were (stupid enough) to buy these puppies in good ol' Strayer, they'd set you back 630 Aussie sheckles - if you bought them from the motherland like wot i did - they'd set you back about 250 British groats which is approx 490 Aussie sheckles (incl 4day DHL express delivery) or you can get them for about 480 Aussie sheckles if and only if, Mr Chromeburner has an 10% additional discount on them (incl week-two week delivery from the Netherlands)
EDIT: They'r seven cheaper now (AU$385 + shipping) - so even more of a bargain;-)
So there you have it. I gave them 5/5 as at the price i got them at - which is comparable to A*'s Supertech R's, Sidi Vortice Air's - they're hard to beat on comfort, price, ease of use, protection, feedback, those little extra's in the box - they look great and they're a fairly lightweight boot.
TDLR: (To Damn Lazy to Read)
If these puppies fit your feet - buy them, you won't be disappointed with them, cos they're made from awesomesauce - except that is, if you don't like 'squeaky' boots - then don't buy them!
Thats about it - thank you for reading my review of the truely awesomesauce TCX RT Race Pro Air boots (for those that did read it) and FU to those that skipped to the TDLR - my poor wee fingers (well my index fingers at any rate) are bloody stumps after tapping away at the keyboard all bloody day - go back and read the damn thing you wastrels!

TCX did good work on this RT-Race Pro Air design. It looks like it will flow air well and be safe in the event of a trip off track. US buyers get 1/2 size above your normal US size. The folks at The Visor Shop shipped and tracked the order with speed and precision to the US, and at a decent price. Thanks for everything!
