Michelin Road 6 GT Motorcycle Tyres

The GT is designed for heavier touring bike

The Road 6 is the evolution of Michelin's most popular road tyre, the Road 5. Available in sizes to cater for most modern bikes, including Adventure bike sizes.

Wet grip: The Michelin Road 6 tyre has 15% more grip than its predecessor in wet conditions thanks to silica technology tread compounds and a new tread pattern featuring Michelin Water Evergrip Technology.

Longevity: The Michelin Road 6 tyre delivers 10% longer tread life compared with the previous generation.

Tread design: An optimized ratio of grooves to rubber, known as the void ratio, gives improved grip performance in both wet and dry conditions. This ratio is not compromised when cornering, so riders have constant and accurate feedback from their tyres. The Michelin X-Sipe Technology combined with Michelin Water Evergrip Technology ensures the tyre has consistent grip throughout conditions and maintains its grip even as the tyre wears – giving riders confidence in the tyre from the first mile to the last mile. There are also new groove and sipe angles with longer edges that cut through water film and maintain road grip.

Tyre compounds: Michelin Silica Rain Technology improves the tyre’s grip in colder conditions and on wet roads, promoting continuous performance and longer tread life. New for the Michelin Road 6 tyre ranges is Michelin 2CT+ Technology applied for the first time to the front tyre, giving riders more stability entering corners.

Tyre architecture: Michelin Amplified Density Technology is a highly dense, rigid tyre casing that gives riders excellent feedback and handling. Aramid tread plies resist centrifugal growth at speed, reduce weight and provide stability.

Improved aesthetics: Michelin Premium Touch Technology is used in the design of the sidewalls, a feature originating from ultra-high-performance tyres for sportscars. This exclusive technology uses micro geometry on the sidewalls to create texture, which in-turn allows it to modulate contrast and create shades of grey to highlight the tyre markings and give an attractive finish.

The new tyre range comprises six front and eight rear sizes, while the Michelin Road 6 GT tyre range is available in one front and three rear sizes.

This complete range of Road 6 and Road 6 GT provides fitments for everything from small roadsters such as the KTM 390, through trail bikes, and up to GT machines such as the BMW K1600 GT/GTL.

Excellent tyre.
On my BMW r1250rt fully loaded, travelling in Europe, done about 2000 miles so far on the tyres and had no issues. Fast ride down on autobahns through France And Germany to Austria. Several mountain passes in Karnten area of Austria, Gross Glockner and Knockeralm plus others handled the twisties very well, also seem quiet not much tyre noise. Good grip in wet and dry. Very satisfied so far.

Brilliant tyres
I bought this pair of Road 6 GT tyres for my FJR1300 and have now covered 5,000 miles of fast touring around Europe and Scotland (NC500 etc). Despite lots of different weather and temperatures, I've not had a single dodgy or scary moment. Compared to 20 years ago, these tyres are amazing, but even compared to Metzlers and Continentals that I've had before on my FJR, they're just great. They feel like a soft compound tyre but I reckon I still have 1-2,000 miles left on the rear. I think the GT option must really help for a heavy sports bike. It's worth paying the extra for a premium tyre, and these Michelins are probaby the best I've ever had.

Highly recommended
Fantastic tyres. Definitely for a the heavier bike. Sometimes a little bit cautious leaning it over in the wet but much better than the 5’s.
