Arai MX-V Evo Motocross Helmet (Track)
- Arai’s ultimate off-road helmet gains ECE R22-06 approval
- No significant changes required thanks to Arai’s Priority for Protection: the core design philosophy of creating rounder, smoother and stronger outer shells combined with a one-piece multi-density EPS liner that work together to improve ‘Glancing Off’ performance.
The MX-V evolved from the legendary VX-3 and years of Arai’s competition experience can be found in its ultimate MX, Enduro and off-road use helmet. And, while fashions in helmet appearance come and go quickly, the MX-V’s organic R75 shell design exists for the same reasons it is in all Arai helmets: to create a smooth, round shell shape that maintains its integral strength.
The absence of exaggerated edges or protrusions is not a lack of imagination or creativity on Arai’s part. It’s because the shape of the helmet works to improve protection. It’s also the reason that the MX-V is the latest Arai to receive ECE R22-06 approval without significant changes.
Priority for Protection: Arai’s core design philosophy of producing rounder, stronger and smoother outer shells to improve ‘Glancing Off’ performance is key in this attainment, as is the rigorous in-house criteria process that all Arai helmets must satisfy.
As with each and every Arai, it’s the sum of the details coming together to produce an even greater result than their sum that makes the MX-V EVO the benchmark it is.
It starts with a strong outer shell: the PB-CLC2 outer shell is manufactured using a special Z-compound resins, and balanced by a lightweight inner liner for reduced overall weight.
Riding hard in the dirt, ventilation really matters, and the MX-V’s front and rear vents work together to pull cool air through the helmet. The peak too channels airflow in with a design that also reduces lifting. The interior is also fully removable, easy to wash, and adjustable.
The MX-V EVO is Arai’s ultimate off-road helmet.
Features:
General
- Outer shell: SCLC (Super Complex Laminate Construction)
- The latest aerospace fibres, with 30% more strength in extension & bending resistance than standard fiberglass comprises the majority of the SCLC shell. While considerably more expensive than most fiberglass (and in fact more than many Carbon Fibre materials), this “Super Fibre” provides incredible flexibility and strength, which maximizes shell integrity. A specially designed “mechanically expanded fibre mat,” sandwiched between the inner and outer layers of Arai´s proprietary Super Fibre Laminates, is used to reinforce and bond these two Super Fibre layers without adding significant weight to the helmet.
Innovative peak
- The Arai peak scavenges and forces air into the forehead vent ports for cooling while at the same time using multiple relief-ports to reduce “lifting” at higher speeds.
Ventilation
- MX-V Ventilation
- Easy to clean diffusers create a strong venture vacuum at the rear. Centre top vent for increased airflow. Under-peak air intake collects and directs cool air into the helmet. Inner chin vent shutter prevents debris coming into the helmet in dusty riding conditions. Goggle ventilation and lower side vents.
- Front ventilation
- Center top vent - intake
- The same proven Top Vent as the RX-7V provides 11% more airflow than the previous RX-7 Vent. The bigger switch makes opening and closing easier. The Top Vent has three positions; closed, half open and fully open to adjust the airflow and prevent water intrusion when fully closed.
Inner chin (bar) vent shutter
- Open and close the chin bar vents from the inside to prevent debris coming into the helmet in dusty riding conditions.
- Rear ventilation
- One-piece rear exhaust with spoiler function
- The one-piece rear exhaust/spoiler, operated by a 3-way switch, is inspired by the DF-X2 of the RX-7V Racing, but redesigned for touring use – however, it was tested up to 300km/h at Suzuka. It sits a little more forward on the shell and is fed by 3 ports in the shell. As part of the Quantic’s comprehensive ventilation system it efficiently draws air but also smooths airflow over (and from the side) of the helmet, improving stability and reducing buffeting, especially while overtaking at highway speeds. The result is much less rider fatigue. Manufactured as thin and light as possible it’s designed to crush or break away upon impact, therefore having no impact on protective performance.
Side exhausts
- Produce low pressure behind the rear vent for better hot air extraction. Integrated in the shell for better aerodynamics, reduce wind noise and prevent buffeting at speed. Inside, a small foam dam helps to absorb and diminish excessive noise, without reducing ventilation performance.

Interior
Dry-Cool® Liner
- Arai´s Dry-Cool® material transfers heat and moisture away from the rider quickly and efficiently.
Replaceable Cheek pads/Ear cups
- Cheek pads/ear cups may be easily removed. All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning, blot dry with a towel and let air dry completely before reassembly. Never machine wash or use heat to dry. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.
- Remove by taking the frontside out first
- Place back by inserting the backside first
Replaceable Interior
- The complete interior may be easily removed. All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.
Replaceable Chinstrap covers
- All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.
Replaceable Neckroll
- All parts (replaceable or not) can be cleaned with lukewarm water and mild soap. Rinse well after cleaning and never dry in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Interior parts in different size thickness are available for a custom fit for every rider.
Facial Contour System (FCS)
- To offer an even better snug fit and enhancing the comfort to the lower jaw, the Facial Contour System (FCS) works with a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds, providing the necessary support without excessive pressure.
5mm ’’Peel Away’’ Ear cups/Cheek pads
- Giving even more ability to craft the perfect fit and comfort, the cheek pads feature a 5 mm peel away layer for added room if needed.
Comfort
Emergency Release System (ERS)
- Allows easier access to an injured rider. By pulling the orange tabs integrated in the pads, the cheek pads slide out. Making helmet removal easier for trained medical personnel and rescuers. Minimising the risk of additional injury.
Breath guard
- Works in conjunction with the dual-pivot® chin vent to better direct fresh air to the inside surface of the shield while at the same time directing hot breath down and away from the inside surface of the shield.
5-year limited warranty
- All Arai helmets are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, and are serviceable only for the properly fitted first user for 5 years from date of first use, but no more than 7 years from date of manufacture.
